  4. The first step is to read the read.me file
  5. included with the distribution files──WindE
  6. is distributed as either Shareware (compres-
  7. ed into a single archive file) or as a reg-
  8. istered version on 5 1/4" or 3 1/2" floppy
  9. diskettes.  The read.me file contains the
  10. latest information on WindE.
  11.  
  12. WindE is started from the DOS prompt by
  13. entering the following command:
  14.  
  15.     winde [wild card][filename...]┘
  16.  
  17. where ┘ refers to the Enter key on the IBM
  18. PC keyboard and everything in brackets is
  19. optional.  A wild card is any DOS wild card
  20. such as *.pas.  Ellipses (...) indicate that
  21. several files may be opened from the command
  22. line.

  24. WindE only requires one file to execute
  25. ──winde.exe──however, when first
  26. learning WindE, it is convenient to have all
  27. of the files from the original diskette or
  28. archive file in the current directory.

  30. If you are not viewing this file via WindE,
  31. copy all of the distribution files onto your
  32. working diskette or hard disk directory and
  33. execute WindE.

  35. After executing WindE, there should be two
  36. windows on your screen in addition to all
  37. of the Help files:

  39.     ■ Directory Window at far right.
  40.     ■ Copyright Window partially buried
  41.       under this window.

  43. If this is not the case, be sure that you
  44. have the unaltered distribution files in
  45. your current working directory.
