▌Getting Started▐
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
The first step is to read the read.me file
included with the distribution files──WindE
is distributed as either Shareware (compres-
ed into a single archive file) or as a reg-
istered version on 5 1/4" or 3 1/2" floppy
diskettes. The read.me file contains the
latest information on WindE.
WindE is started from the DOS prompt by
entering the following command:
winde [wild card][filename...]┘
where ┘ refers to the Enter key on the IBM
PC keyboard and everything in brackets is
optional. A wild card is any DOS wild card
such as *.pas. Ellipses (...) indicate that
several files may be opened from the command
line.
WindE only requires one file to execute
──winde.exe──however, when first
learning WindE, it is convenient to have all
of the files from the original diskette or
archive file in the current directory.
If you are not viewing this file via WindE,
copy all of the distribution files onto your
working diskette or hard disk directory and
execute WindE.
After executing WindE, there should be two
windows on your screen in addition to all
of the Help files:
■ Directory Window at far right.
■ Copyright Window partially buried
under this window.
If this is not the case, be sure that you
have the unaltered distribution files in
your current working directory.
